Conversations about translating femicide: finding collaborative solutions to particular problems through reflective practice
Zusammenfassung des Vortrags
This presentation deals with a collaborative translation project where six students and an experienced colleague rendered a compendium of articles on femicide from English to Spanish. In order to foster the development of translator competencies through creative thinking and reflective practice, the process was divided into different phases: translation per se, peer revision in pairs, collective revision in live online sessions, and independent post-editing. The presentation concentrates on the collaborative aspects of the decision-making process during the group sessions and how the participants came to agreements regarding “problematic” expressions.

Krisztina Zimányi is a full-time associate professor at the Department of Languages at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, where she lectures on psycholinguistics, translation and translation studies among other subjects. Her research interests include conceptualizations of translation as a phenomenon, in particular, intersemiotic translation and collaborative translation, translator education and translation ethics.
