Raising Questions on Exclusion and (Missing) Representation in Teacher Education
Zusammenfassung des Vortrags
Heinz et al. (2022, 229) emphasize the necessity of, “recognising that representation matters and has yet to be achieved” while opposing any form of essentialisation. We draw on intersectional, interdisciplinary and international perspectives to engage with complex questions on exclusion and (missing) representation in teacher education. Referring to a shared theoretical framework on inclusion, diversity, social justice-oriented teaching and critical literacy, we focus on a project based online seminar based on collaboration between Purdue University (Indiana, USA) and Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) which provided opportunities for students from both universities to engage critically on a diverse range of culturally specific and cross-cultural educational discourses related to issues of inclusive and diversity-conscious (EFL) teaching.
