LeibnizWerkstatt

Promoting Language Acquisition - Supporting Refugees

The Project LeibnizWerkstatt is being funded by the Ministry for Science and Culture. The governing management of the project lies with the Leibniz School of Education and the German Department of the Leibniz University Hannover. The project was started in autumn 2015 and is being continuously developed.

Goal and Concept

The goal of the project LeibnizWerkstatt is to sensitize as many students as possible to the difficult situation of refugees and enable them to provide language acquisition support.

The concept of LeibnizWerkstatt rests on four pillars:

  • Subject Issue Language and Migration, German as a foreign or second language,

  • action, art, and body based indirect language teaching,

  • diversity, gender-specific problems and racism criticism,

  • judicial and psychosocial prevailing conditions.

A gender-sensible, racism-critical as well as anti-discriminatory attitude builds the background and determines the respective design and realization of the project.
